Record all six segments in a conversational voice. The cue in brackets is a suggested tone — feel free to make each read your own.
Run through these three before you record — each one targets a different part of your articulation and warm-up, so every word lands clean on the mic.
“Red leather, yellow leather, unique New York.”
Forces your tongue and lips to move fast and clean, waking up the articulators so you don't slur words during fast-paced scripts. Repeat it 5 times in a row, starting slowly and building up speed while keeping every sound crisp.
“Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked.”
Hard “P” and “B” sounds can “pop” on sensitive studio mics — bursts of air overloading the capsule. This trains you to hit plosives firmly without dumping air into the mic. Say it with a hand two inches in front of your mouth, aiming to pronounce every word clearly while minimising the air hitting your palm.
“The lips, the teeth, the tip of the tongue.”
Releases jaw tightness and primes the entire vocal tract right before you go live or hit record on an audition track. Over-exaggerate your lip and mouth movements on every syllable, emphasising the final “T” and “NG” sounds cleanly.
We're keeping the door wide open. If you meet these, you're good to go — and if you're unsure, apply anyway.
Fill out the application form below with your details and audio. That's it — your application is in!
